To promote the release of Adobe's Creative Suite 3, the studio Brand New School created a Flash-driven, 10' by 25' interactive wall mural whose imagery is motion-activated by nearby viewers. Working under the agency Goodby, Silverstein, and Partners, BNS' animation uses infrared sensors to detect pedestrians walking closest to the wall and will start playing music and images in time with the pace of the viewer.

PRINT reviewed Creative Suite 3 in our May/June issue. We also wrote about Brand New School last September as part of our article on the re-emergence of psychedelia.

Cut & Paste, the Adobe sponsored digital design tournament, is accepting entries for those digital artists who would like to compete in the 3rd annual competition. Meant to highlight one’s artistic talents while competing onstage against other emerging artists, the Cut&Paste tournament pits artists who face-off in a series of single-elimination rounds until only one of the original eight designers selected from each city is left. Provided with an Apple® MacPro Workstation, Adobe® Creative Suite 3, and a Wacom® Cintiq interactive pen display, each artist will be working within a designated theme for each round while their work is projected in real-time before a live audience. Past winners include PRINT’s own New Visual Artist Anisa Suthayalai, who won the first Cut&Paste Tournament in New York City. For a chance to compete, entries should be submitted by Tuesday, July 17.
Cut&Paste Tournament Dates Boston, September 8 New York City, September 15 Portland, September 21 San Francisco, September 29 Chicago, October 6 London, October 20 Berlin, October 27 Tokyo, November 3 Hong Kong, November 10 Sydney, November 17 Los Angeles, October 13

Jeans maker Earnest Sewn premiered new work by Jamie Hewlett--best know
for drawing the characters in Damon Albarn's cartoon band
Gorillaz--last night in New York at an event called "Kabaret's Prophecy
& Jimmyjane Launch at An Earnest Cut & Sewn." The collaboration
between Kabaret's Prophecy, a London nightclub, and Jimmyjane, the design-savvy romance brand, resulted in The Ultimate Members, a set of
vibrators festooned with characters in Hewlett's iconic imagery. The gallery is
showing the collection through July 30.
