If we can set the pandemic aside for a moment, 2020 has been the year of the Worm—earlier this year NASA called its iconic logo back into service, and today it’s slated to head back into space aboard a Falcon 9 rocket.

Also today, the publisher Standards Manual announced a new book, The Worm, featuring more than 300 images of the logo in use. Culled from NASA’s archives and presented in a 248-page volume, “these images demonstrate not only the extent to which Danne & Blackburn’s 1975 NASA Graphic Program had been implemented before being rescinded in 1992, but also the incredible achievements by NASA personnel.”

Like all of Standards Manual’s output, the planned book is slated to be a beautiful object, featuring a silkscreened cover and jacket, exposed binding with red thread, and two paper stocks.

Here’s a peek at the book, designed by Order, and featuring a foreword by Richard Danne—who shared his original pitch deck to NASA with PRINT a few weeks back.
