Student Cover Competition

Starting March 15, Print will be accepting submissions for our 2011 Student Cover Competition. This year, we're asking students to tackle an essential question for designers (and magazines) head-on: What is the future of print design? How will the tangible, ink-on-paper pieces that designers love coexist with design on digital platforms in the years to come? Please create a cover that addresses this issue and submit it no later than June 30 July 15.

For the first time, we will only be accepting submissions that are sent as digital files (students, if you can find a way to visually communicate the irony of this, given our cover topic, we will applaud your efforts). Please send the following items to studentcover [at] printmag [dot] com.

• A digital file of your cover;
  the image must be 8.5" x 10.875" at 72 dpi

• A completed entry form.

Download Print’s logo to use on the cover here.

The deadline for this competition is July 15, 2010. Please see the entry form for other submission information. We will be announcing the winners and honorable mentions for the 2010 competition soon—stay tuned!

Back issues of Print, including past winners of the Student Cover Competition, can be found in our online store.

The links to the entry form and the logo aren't working. They both say "this page cannot be displayed".

Call me crazy, but there seems to be a difference in the theme identified on the web page about the Student Competition; what is the future of print design? How will the tangible ink-on-paper pieces that designers love coexist with design in the digital work, then you click on the link to the entry form and in the .pdf file it identifies the theme as; what is essential in making design today, what can we not work without, in terms of inspiration, essential items, or process. Could it be more obtuse? which one is it?

I noticed that on the main competition page it states the dimensions as 8.5" x 10.875" but on the new entry form pdf they are listed as 9" x 10.875". Could we please get clarification on which dimensions are correct? Thanks.

Thanks!
